About - Richard Maher

A little something about me:

My name is Richard Maher, a hobbyist/amateur photographer living in Auckland, New Zealand.

I have a strong passion for sharing what I see of the world around me using my camera. I tend to experiment with different types of photography and am always on the lookout for something new and challenging.

Aviation photography is what I am most passionate about and can be considered to be my niche. The interest in aviation photography sparked when I got a job working on the airfield at Auckland International Airport. Working on the airfield gives me a fantastic chance to capture the beauty and elegance of aircraft up-close in unique perspectives that most people don't get to see.

I am a mechanical engineer by qualification so for me to be up-close with aircraft that are the epitome of modern day engineering is very much like a kid in a candy store. (Pictured alongside is myself standing through the cockpit window of an A380 - the biggest passenger plane in the world)!
